Our Biodiversity Priorities for 2026–27

We consider biodiversity in every meeting and are aiming to include it in our procurement.

We are also exploring:

• Butterfly‑friendly planting at King George’s Field

• A small wildlife pond

• Children’s nature projects

• Ensuring hedgerows are not cut during nesting season

• Using biodiverse materials in planters

• Signage for plant identification

• Encouraging volunteer involvement

We try to maintain and improve small habitats that support native wildlife such as:

• Bee‑friendly planters with native plants and bee cups

• Water‑retentive compost to reduce stress on plants

• Hedgehog food stations and a wood pile habitat

• Exploring a new herb planter near the fountain

We aim to reduce pollution and protect local ecosystems by:

• Introducing “No Litter” signage

• Monitoring King George’s Field and the sports field for invasive species

• Sharing information with residents about threats to biodiversity

How you can help

Small actions can make a big difference. You could consider:

• Leaving part of your garden unmown

• Planting native, pollinator‑friendly flowers

• Avoiding cutting hedges during nesting season

• Reducing the use of pesticides

• Creating small habitats such as log piles or water dishes

• Joining local volunteer activities
